Middle School Community Comes Together for Holiday Assembly

The entire Middle School, boys and teachers, gathered in the Middle School Town Center for a very special Holiday Assembly. Middle School Head Kim Kyte welcomed everyone, asking them to take a minute to appreciate the twinkling lights encircling the room and to enjoy the coziness of being together to mark the holidays.
Head of Music, Michelle Demko, led everyone in singing holiday favorites, which were interspersed throughout the assembly. They included: “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Jingle Bells,” “Feliz Navidad” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa.”

Sixth graders (Josh Greene, Jack Hegenbart, Skyler Brozyna, Adam Gall, Alexander Irausquin-Petit, Aarav Gupta, Joshua Hong, Luke Sarsfield, Elijah Shamilzadeh, Dylan Collins, Basti Williams, and Tucker Mack) read out holiday memories they had written themselves, which included special moments during their Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations. They talked of gifts they’d received, trips they’d been on, games they’d played and foods they’d eaten, but in the end they realized that what the holidays were really all about was time with family and friends.

Two of the Sixth Grade Happy Horns, Jamie Resurreccion and Danny Gall, played magnificent French horn solos -- “Silent Night” and “Deck the Halls” -- respectively.

To round out this organic celebration, members of the Spanish Team (Jesús Parra, Natalie Lopez, Stephen Krawek and Samara Spielberg) led an entertaining interactive rendition of T’was the Night Before Christmas with a Spanish twist. They taught the boys words from the text in Spanish, with pantomime, so when Señorita Spielberg read out the story, the boys substituted the words with actions at the appropriate time.

What a fun and festive celebration!
