Transforming Favorite Snacks into Pop Art

Alex Exposito, an accomplished artist and Allen-Stevenson Art Teacher, introduced our fifth-grade boys to the work of contemporary pop artists Joan Linder, Claus Oldenburg, Andy Warhol, and Takashi Murakami.
Students enthusiastically explored the movement that blurred the lines between high art and pop culture. Only too excited to tap into their love of snacks, the boys created 3D artwork featuring their favorite treats. Packaging, color, brand recognition, design, and lettering - even the nutrition facts - came to life!

Allen-Stevenson’s distinctive “enlightened traditional” approach educates boys to become scholars and gentlemen.
