First Graders Take us For an Art Walk Around "The Block."

We invite you to join us on a video stroll through our first graders' colorful cityscape inspired by art-activist Romare Bearden's mural, "The Block."
In woodshop, boys explored their creativity and developed manipulative and fine-motor skills, cutting colored paper to produce these vibrant city collages. Students reflected upon the many elements that make up their communities and added details using only scissors, colored paper, and glue.

It was thrilling to see how all the pieces came together!

This study will lead to their next project, wooden cityscapes, where they will begin to use simple hand tools such as sanders and hammers.

Until then, enjoy the photos and video of the boys' beautiful work!
