First Graders Repurpose Household Items To Construct Bridges During Social Studies

Boys creatively repurposed household items to showcase their learning about different bridge types and structures.
The first-grade students took a photo of their construction and recorded themselves explaining what they made. Said one boy, “I built a pedestrian bridge. A pedestrian bridge is made for people to cross. I built my bridge out of Lego. I also wanted to make a covered bridge, but I didn’t have enough Lego to do that, so I made stairs for both sides of my pedestrian bridge instead.”
