Third Graders Back Arguments with Evidence During Debate

Third graders debated the pros and cons of uniforms, a topic very salient to their lives.
Debating gives our boys experience formulating arguments for or against a topic, and our teachers show them how to support their opinions with evidence. These debates give our boys an understanding of teamwork and good sportsmanship and show them the importance of respecting others’ opinions as well as learning to argue for something they don’t necessarily support.

Allen-Stevenson’s distinctive “enlightened traditional” approach educates boys to become scholars and gentlemen.
