First graders in Ms. Griffiths’s class collaborated on a math exercise that helped familiarize them with their new classroom.
The boys received a list of school supplies and were tasked with exploring their surroundings to find the items. Once located, they counted the supplies and logged their findings on a worksheet. The class came together at the end to compare numbers and share helpful counting techniques. Said one boy to a classmate, “…if you take the pencils out of the cup, you can lay them out. That might be easier to count.”
