• Allen-Stevenson offers the opportunity to be a part of a large ensemble starting in the Third Grade and continuing through to the 9th Grade. The School hosts two orchestras for Grades Five through Nine and two preparatory ensembles for Grades Three and Four. The orchestras are a way for boys to use the skills learned in their instrumental lessons to collaborate and perform orchestral music with their classmates. It’s also a wonderful chance for the boys to play music from a wide variety of genres and eras of music history. Participating in the orchestras teaches skills such as teamwork, leadership, and ensemble skills.
  • Each orchestra performs in concerts and at various school and community events throughout the school year, including Grandparents and Special Friends Day, Friday Morning Meetings, and annual concerts. The Upper School Orchestra, also called The Allen-Stevenson Philharmonia, travels and performs throughout the North East. Past trips have also included Princeton, Yale University, Philadelphia, and Mystic, Connecticut.

Allen-Stevenson’s distinctive “enlightened traditional” approach educates boys to become scholars and gentlemen.
