At Allen-Stevenson, boys have the freedom to be themselves and explore non-traditional boy subjects and activities. We appreciate a boy's tempo, energy and need for hands-on activities. Our teachers understand and celebrate boys, and are trained to teach them too.
Knowing what a boy will be passionate about and need as a 14-year-old is very hard to predict at age 4 or 5. Allowing him to grow and thrive in an elementary school environment gives him a chance to develop an understanding of what kind of person and learner he is, then consider his choices carefully as he goes through the application process for high school. Listen to Steven Cohen, Head of the Upper School, explain the benefits of a K-9 School.
The Admissions process begins one year before entry. Applications become available online around August 31. Once you have submitted an application, a representative from the Admissions office will call to schedule a parent interview and tour as well as your child’s visit.
Each year, we accept applications for Kindergarten, Grade 6 and Grade 7. Candidates for Grades 1 through 5, 8 and 9 can apply. You will be contacted by the Admissions Office once we think there will be a spot available for that grade.
For Kindergarten and Grade 1, an application, parent visit (interview and tour), child’s visit, and ISAAGNY Information Sheet complete the application. For Grades 2 through 9, an application, parent visit (interview and tour), child visit and assessment, current school transcript, ISAAGNY General Recommendation Form, and ERB’s ISEE test scores complete an application.
We are delighted that there has been an increase in interest among Allen-Stevenson alumni and families with siblings who have sons of school age! We encourage you to apply early in order to complete the admissions process, especially if you would like to be considered for "early notification," in accordance with ISAAGNY policies.
