Advisory

The Upper School has an Advisory System in which the boys are carefully placed in groups of 10-12 students with a faculty advisor. Advisory meets everyday first thing in the morning, as well as once a week for 45 minutes. Advisors work closely with their advisees helping them manage all aspects of their life at school, whether it is academic concerns, or issues with friends. The advisor is the first point of contact for families and for the boys. Parent conferences are conducted twice a year with your son’s advisor and the student runs the conference. Advisors and all teachers at a grade level meet regularly to discuss the students in the grade and advisors relay that information to families as needed. In addition the advisor with the help of the learning resource center will coordinate any extra support a student may need. Advisory is a safe place for boys to discuss current events, school related issues and general concerns. There are also planned activities both for individual advisories and for entire grade levels.

Allen-Stevenson’s distinctive “enlightened traditional” approach educates boys to become scholars and gentlemen.
