Project Charlie

In Sixth Grade, Project Charlie meets weekly and is divided into two units. The first unit covers nutrition and health related issues. During that unit the boys are taught the importance of healthy eating and its long-term effects on the body. They also learn how to read food labels and are asked to create healthy meal plans, which include an analysis of fast food menus and supermarket options. The second unit covers an in-depth look at drugs and alcohol, which also includes energy drinks and tobacco use. The boys watch videos describing the production and use of various substances and learn about the negative health effects that drugs have on the body as well as seeing their addictive affects.

Allen-Stevenson’s distinctive “enlightened traditional” approach educates boys to become scholars and gentlemen.
