With the guidance of Kliment Halsband Architects of New York City, active planning and permit applications have taken place over the last two years. Key features of the project will include:

Townhouses
  • New Performing Arts Pavilion to complement the Assembly Hall and Music Suite
  • Learning Commons and new collaborative learning spaces
  • Science and STEAM classrooms to facilitate interdisciplinary inquiry and projects
  • Visual Arts Suite, including new art studios and woodshop
  • Greenhouse classroom to support teaching of the environmental and life sciences
  • Purpose built Wrestling Room and gym for younger boys
  • New locker room and improved Wellness Center
  • Second elevator
  • Integrated administrative office suite
New Gymnasium
Additional Full-Size Gymnasium and New Covered Play Roof
  • Additional full-size regulation gym on top of the main schoolhouse with space for spectators
  • Repurposing of the current gymnasium to include a climbing wall, new cardio equipment and offices
  • New covered rooftop play space for use even when weather is inclement
  • Tighter security and street entrance space
Following a series of public hearings, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission unanimously approved Allen-Stevenson’s proposal. Accordingly, we will preserve the facades of both townhouses and build a completely new structure behind them. Construction will begin with demolition of the interiors during the summer of 2015.
Allen-Stevenson’s distinctive “enlightened traditional” approach educates boys to become scholars and gentlemen.
